A Blustery Day

What a crazy weekend! Could we have packed anything else in???

Saturday morning we had the AWANA Grand Prix. Our turnout was a little less than in previous years because the fair is this weekend and that's a big deal around here. But the best part is that EVERYONE got a trophy. Avery was very proud of hers, and won't let her sister touch it!

After a quick trip to Target and lunch with Mom and Daniel, the girls went back to the house to take a nap, and Josh and I went to get the party started. It was a blustery day in the Hundred Acre Wood (or at least at the park), but we bundled up and played hard. The kids had a blast. As we were doing birthday cake Reagan tasted a little icing from the back side while I was doing candles. Apparently she liked it because then she sunk her whole hand in the top to get a little more. Crazy girl!!!

I can't believe another year has come and gone. Avery and Reagan are getting so big and grown up. I love love love being their mommy!

My Baby Girl Is TWO!!!

Happy Birthday Sweet Pea!

What an amazing, sweet, funny little girl you are. Daddy and I are surprised by something new all the time. You are so smart little girl. I can't wait to see what God does with you. You are a little head-strong (SHHHH Grandpa - don't tell her it's really a lot!), but you are sweet to your sister and mommy and daddy. You are such a joy little girl. I am so glad that God put you in our lives.

Lovin' me some Bluebonnets

If you know me well, you know I love bluebonnets. Always have. I've been wanting to do pictures of my kids in the Texas bluebonnets since I was a child myself... and I have every year except the year we had the big drought and there were no bluebonnets up where we were. Josh will tell you, I cried that year.

Today we drove all over Texas... well, not quite, but close... a lot closer than we planned on... to find the perfect bluebonnets. We found several patches and took hundreds of pictures... well, not quite, but close... a lot closer than we planned on... because it seems that my almost 2 year old is discovering the art of aggrivating her mama. It is so not cool - no matter how much my mother tells me she's just like me. She's still beautiful though... just won't take a decent picture with her sister. She's definitely going to keep us on our toes.

Josh Frey the Science Guy

Avery's class is having science week and her teacher asked for parent volunteers to come and do science experiments for the class. Josh volunteered and talked about the states of matter and then made bubbles out of dry ice. The kids LOVED it! Explaining everything first.

The dry ice was so cold that it made the tongs sing. The kids loved this and tried to think of different things it sounded like. The best one was a firecracker taking off.

This was the biggest bubble I caught.

At the end Josh put some dry ice in a bowl and poured in the water to just let it bubble. They thought this was so cool... especially when he would blow it towards the kids.

Thanks Josh for being such a great dad who is willing to do just about anything for your girls.

Beyond blessed

I think often I take it for granted, not realizing how rare it is. I mentioned on Thursday to my friends at school that I was excited because my grandparents were coming to College Station and we were going to see them. They were all amazed that I still had my grandparents. Even my students were surprised... of course some of them think I'm 50 so their surprise isn't something to get worked up about. It was wonderful to see all my family on Thursday and Friday night. All of mom's sisters were there as well as one of my cousins. She has 2 girls that Avery just adores so she had a blast as well. Now I'm looking forward to our annual summer trip to Missouri even more. And looking forward to spring break when we get to spend time with Josh's parents. How fortunate and blessed we are to have family.
